Accreditation Information

Accreditation & Training Pathways

We offer multiple accreditation pathways for installers and designers across solar, battery, off-grid, and other renewable technologies. Use the resources below to check requirements and get started.

Before you apply, please read the process and requisites below to ensure a smooth application.

The Accreditation Process

Any individual who wishes to design or install Grid Connected PV systems (GCPV), Grid Connected Battery Systems (GCBS) or Stand Alone Power Systems (SPS) must be accredited under the SAA Scheme in order to be eligible for small-scale technology certificates (STCs). In addition, many state-based rebate programs require the installer to be an Accredited Person.

Accreditation provides a high level of quality assurance, ensuring appropriately licensed and skilled persons are accredited. SAA requires accredited persons to continue their training and professional development, ensuring that their knowledge and skills remain current with respect to new technologies and changes to Standards and Regulations. Step 4 - Read & Sign SAA's Code of Conduct Agreements

The agreement will appear in CPD Hub and sent via Email.

Step 5 - Read & Sign SAA's Accreditation Agreement

The agreement will appear in CPD Hub and sent via Email.

Step 6 - Complete Your Accreditation Exam

  • Eligibility to claim STCs and other scheme-related benefits

  • Your CPD plan activated and 100 CPD points are due in the next 12 months.

Pre-Requisite Units of Competency & Training Providers

If you’re just starting your journey toward accreditation, look below for units of competency required for your accreditation – these represent the current training pathways. Then contact an RTO for course availability and eligibility.

For any questions, please email: accreditation@saaustralia.com.au.

Grid Connected Photovoltaics (GCPV)

To gain GCPV accreditation, you’ll need to complete the relevant training based on your chosen accreditation type: Design & Install, Design Only, or Install Only. These nationally recognised courses ensure you have the skills and knowledge to design and/or install safe, compliant solar PV systems connected to the grid.

The required courses are listed below and must be completed through an SAA-recognised training provider.

Once your training is complete, you can proceed with your application to become an SAA-accredited professional and start working on projects that require recognised industry credentials.
